Blog 1

Strangely enough I found the articles in these two sections very interesting. Being subject to public transportation, I have a lot of time on my hands between destinations. I really enjoyed the story about The Great Depression. I am somewhat familiar with the story about the (TVA). My mother was born in Mississippi and grew up as a cotton picker. Some of my family chose to work for the TVA which gave power to most of the south. Thank GOD for the TVA. It gave a good days wage to poor southern workers. My brother and I are the first in our family to attend college. I also really enjoy the way this text book reads. It is very informative. I pride myself in being a decent writer. Although writing tends to stress me out. I am looking forward in finding ways to increase my knowledge in writing properly. The more one reads the better a writer one becomes. The way the text book presents information is clear and precise. Much of the information I think I knew but, the book helps me understand in ways that make sense. Concepts given like starting with a thesis, the audience you are writing for, what is your stance, all make me feel that writing should not be as hard as I think it should be. When the text book talks about transitions, a light bulb went off in my head. I knew that, but to see it presented in a way that I understand is very refreshing. I hate writers who constantly repeat the same information from sentence to sentence. If you constantly repeat yourself you are going to bore your readers to death.
